is there a plan to support the wideband extension G.711.1 of the Codec G.711?

We are using T46g and T46s and SIP-T23g phones.

Hi Stefan,

This is Aishion from Yealink technical team, nice to know you. My pleasure to work for you!

I just confirmed with our RD guy and check that we don't have this plan to support G711.1 at present.

As we already support G711(A/u) codec, are there many difference between G711(A/u) and G711.1?

Would you please kindly tell us why you want to use this codec? Is there any advantage of this codec?

Any update, please feel free to contact us.

Best Regards

Aishion

Hi Aishion,

G.711.1 is used by some carriers and has a higher quality compared to G.722, but an G.711 bitstream can easily be extracted.

Hi Stefan,

I will feedback your suggestion to our PM team to evaluate about this codec, meanwhile, would you please kindly help us check below:

1-May I know is there any project involved with how many phones and models?

2-Can I kindly know maybe which carriers/ phone models have already supported this codec?

3-As some of our phones (T4S and T23G) can support Opus codec which can handle a wide range of audio applications, may I know does this codec can meet your requirment?

Any question, please feel free to contact us.

Best Regards

Aishion

Reading recommendations for using Charter Spectrum Enterprise SIP Trunking it is recommended to use G.711 ulaw. Is this the same as you are talking about. I see our Yeastar S100 supports u-law but the T56S phones do not.
