T46G: Power LED always flashing when backlight is off

This bug is completely unacceptable. Please fix, Yealink.

I opened a ticket for the issue (#41052) and got back the same nonsense that this is a designed behavior:

If you don't need power saving feature, you can go to web interface of the phone, and disable power saving feature.
I will also double check with product manager to check if we will develop new feature for the flashing issue.

Well, as we all know having the LED showing the same status as a missed call simply because the backlight is off is a major annoyance.

This needs to be fixed. Previous firmware versions did NOT behave this way.

Everyone here should open a bug report. The more tickets we have, the more likely they are to address it. Don't just write "me too" here in the forums, file a real bug report.

Yes, I've logged a ticket.

They appear not to understand the bug is that the phone can't distinguish power-saving and backlight-off modes.

Of course, being able to control-configure this breaking change would also have been a really good idea (what on earth were they thinking?) but at least if the phone could tell the difference between power-saving and backlight-off modes, you could disable power-saving mode (as suggested) and not have a blinking LED when it enters backlight-off mode.

Concerning your question: «... I suggest, that frequency for «phone ist alive» could be one blink every five seconds, frequency for missed calls a double blink every two seconds. Hope that helps.

For this behavior, it's designed on x.80.0.130 verision or later.(when power saving feature is on, the LED blink informs customer, the phone is still working)

I also had a ticket in which I suggested that they review 2 things:

1. The BUG that causes the phone not to be able to distinguish between power-saving and backlight-off modes - currently it starts blinking as soon as it enters backlight-off mode, regardless of the power-saving mode setting.

2. An option to configure the blink rate from 0 (disabled) to 60? in seconds - so it would be possible to distinguish the intended power-saving 'alive' indicator from other blinking applications, such as missed calls.

Personally, I'd be OK with power-saving mode having a blink option, provided I could adjust the rate (and/or disable it) and I'd probably set it to something like once every 30secs - because in an open-plan room full of phones, that's still a lot of blinking lights.

That is easily the best option to answer Michael's question from Travis above your post. Travis told him they would provide an option to toggle the blinking but asked how they could make a separate control to change the rate.

It doesn't need to be separate at all. 0 is disabled, no blink. Any other number is how many seconds between blinks.

No, I need no RATE of blinking. Blinking is only okay if I had missed a call or there is a new message in the voicebox. Nothing other. Never ever. When backlight is off and power saving is on, with other words: When my phone sleeps: I need ABSOLUTELY NO BLINKING when there is no reason for!!!

Today Yealink released the new firmware T46-28.81.0.70, but the annoying issue still exists. After 4 months and several updates later nothing has changed. The LED is still blinking like crazy for no reason.

Sorry, but I cant recommend Yealink furthermore.

This is pathetic. Yealink are just ignoring their customers regarding this bug. I won't be recommending Yealink any more, and I'll be recommending we switch brands internally.

It is not being ignored.
The firmware is in testing now i can confirm this.
Id expect it to be released soon.
