we do paid technical support by phone where we conference together the tech support representative, and the customer with a receptionist who keeps the phone on mute listening to the conversation making sure everything is going alright and that no protocols are broken. When the phone loses mute though it causes disruptions in the phone call which is timed for billing purposes.

we are also a small hosted IP phone provider, and some of our customers have complained about the phone losing mute all of the sudden.
