I'm facing the same problem.
Changed the backlight time to 15, but did not help. About every 30 seconds it turns on again.

I'll be sending you the file in private.

Actually I'm pretty sure I know the cause of this. The T28 sends out a new REGISTER request every time the Server Expiry time hits (default is once every 180 seconds, but since our PBX is set to min-session of 90 seconds the phone seems to send a new REGISTER once eveyr 80 seconds or so).
For some reason, every time this REGISTER happens the phone's display lights up. My guess is that it thinks the account has changed somehow, and is treating the response from the REGISTER request as a sign to turn the backlight on.

While it might make sense to activate the backlight in response to a REGISTER, there's no reason to be doing it when the phone is re-registering the same account that was already active...

Hope that helps your development team get things sorted out quickly!

Any word on a fix for this?? I can post the config files if you need them.

I've attached the config.bin from my T28 running RPS 2.72.0.31.

I can also definitely confirm my suspicions above. If I go to the account page and set the SIP Server 1 -> Server Expires timer to a higher value (say 3600), then the phone backlight will only come on once per hour (3600 - my 100 seconds min. session time on PBX). If I leave it at 180, it comes on every 80 seconds (180 - 100 seconds min. session time on PBX).

If the account is not registered the backlight stays off.

So seems like it should be an easy fix, just don't turn on the backlight if registration response from a server that is already registered to...

Sorry. This issue is releated to the change status of BLF, accounts, voice mail and so on. Once one of them has changed the status, the backlight will be turned on.

Is this going to be fixed in a firmware update?
My customers are also tired of this new "feature"?
Or do you know how to temporarily fix the issue?
