Okay, so I had a theory it might be a loose speaker wire. Took the unit apart. The speaker wires were still soldered firmly in place, but the 2-wire connector that plugged into the motherboard must have been a little loose, as when I unplugged it and plugged it back in, voila! Working speakerphone...
