Peculiar firmware update problem (T28P)
Hi!
I have a couple of Yealink IP phones at home and due to the fact that I moved a couple of years ago from one european country to another I also have Yealink phones branded for different vendors.
Some time ago I wanted to upgrade one of my SIP T28P phones but accidentaly used a firmware from the wrong vendor. Now the phone has the 2.51.9.4 firmware and refuses to upgrade (or downgrade) to any other firmware (Neither from the 2.*.9.* vendor nor 2.*.0.* or 2.*.23.*. I think that the original firmware was 2.*.0.* but it is some time ago so I cannot tell for sure).
I even tried to upgrade the phone using rescue mode (after reboot through TFTP server) but it returned an error code which I googled for and it meant something like "the firmware/vendor code doesn't match".
I assume that the problem happened to arise from the fact that the old firmware did not check properly for the vendor code so It was possible to upgrade to a wrong firmware. But this new firmware checks presumably for both: the vendor code stored in the phone and the vendor code of the current firmware - so it is not possible to upgrade to any other firmware.
I am correct with this assumption? Or is there some other way to upgrade the phone to a newer version? (I don't mind for which vendor the firmware is...)
It would be nice if all of my Yealink phones had compatible versions (w.r.t. XML browser and so on).
(The phone is out of warranty now, I think. And I bought it as a private person.)
Thank you!
