RE: Which cisco switches for small business
Not that Cisco switches are not nice. They are but they are a bit complicated in my opinion and Cisco support is expensive.

I would encourage you to take a look at HP, they are a bit cheaper but office a lot of benefits. HP switches come with lifetime warranty and support for the product not just the first owner. HP support is next to non if you ever did have a issue down the road. There switches include next day replacement that is hassle free if it ever did need to be replaced. I would recommend you avoid the low grade switches example TrendNet, while they do offer warranties on stuff it is not next day and in my experience you will be lucky if it is next week. Since you are dealing with voice, try running a business without phones for a week and let me know if you have a job Smile

I'm guessing you were looking for a PoE switch? If so take a look at a HP 2530-24G-PoE PN:J9773A it is a Layer 2 switch so cannot do any routing but guessing for the size of the company that woudl not be needed.

It is a fairly clean match to your Cisco switch. Is layer 2, gigabit, PoE and cheaper but includes all the warranty pluses.

We use HP switches for all our phone system installs. They have worked absolutely amazing. If you do look at HP switch lineup you will see there is some cheaper 1900 series switches. AVOID THEM those switches are leftovers from the 3com days. Very low end and a pain in the ass. I would never sell or recommend one of those to anyone. Stick with the true HP Procurve series and you will be very happy.

If your open to the HP idea and got any questions feel free to post or PM me. Would gladly help you out with any question you got on how we use them and what not.
