Versions (T46G) 28.83.0.55
Could someone please tell me how the Firmware versions relates to the actual firmware? For example when a post states "it will only work work v71 or v80 does that me for example if my existing version is 28.83.0.55 they are referring to 28.83.0.55 would be v83?

TIA.

Hi sfrazier,

You are correct, 28.83.0.55 would be v83.

Going from memory it's something like this:
ModelID.FirmwareVersion.customID.releaseNumber

ModelID is the internal numbering Yealink assigns to all their phones. You used to be able to find it listed in the Provisioning guide but I'm not sure if they do that anymore since the modern provisioning tried to abstract away from that number and follow more of the logical models actually printed on the phones.
In you case I believe 28 is the ID for T46G? Could be mistaken again that's just from memory.

FirmwareVersion is what you expect. So 80, 81, 82, 83 etc

CustomID is used to identify firmwares that have been customized for specific vendors or platforms. I have no idea what the scheme there is, but things like 3cX specific have one number, Broadsoft have another, etc. 0 is the "generic" uncustomized ID.

ReleaseNumber is the release of that specific firmware version. So in your case you have Firmware v83 release 55. You can usually find the firmware change log on the support page for each phone, and that does a surprisingly good job of documenting all the features/bug fixes/changes between each published release.
