Shocking delay, jitter buffer does nothing, Yealink won't fix
Hi everyone,

I'm looking at implementing 15 x Yealink 48S with a hosted pbx.

However I've seen reports that there are serious problems with jitter delay, this one is the most detailed:

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re...673641#r12

This is causing me some concern.

Any comments/solutions regarding this problem?

Hi,

Please make sure the Jitter Buffer settings (Settings > Voice) are correct values:
Min Delay: 60
Max Delay: 240
Normal: 120

By provisioning:
voice.jib.min = 60
voice.jib.max = 240
voice.jib.normal = 120

Hope this will help.

Kind regards,
Frank.

I am not an employee of Yealink.

Hi Complex1,

If you read further in that thread you'll see that user has done extensive testing on the Jitter settings, and is saying they are not effective at all, in fact he doesn't think they work at all.

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re...673641#r17

To quote:

"I am disappointed mostly by the fact the the jitter buffer settings do diddly squat. They might as well not exist. I think they are there to give the impression there is an adjustment."

and later on:

"I was the same, but once you are forced to deal with it, it becomes an issue. I would appreciate it if anyone could get the time to do a quick test themself. Pretty easy to do. Just make a call from a phone to a Yealink on handsfree with audacity recording. Click your fingers, get the corresponding click and measure the spikes on the timeline.

I would also love to get confirmation from anyone interested to do the above with various settings of the jitter buffer, from 20ms to 300ms, dynamic and static."

Thanks Smile
