Add FEC and DTx to Opus codec
On the phones that support the Opus codec, it would be great if Yealink supported FEC and DTx.

For those of you that don't know, the Opus codec is an extremely high-quality, low-bandwidth codec with built-in functions that compensate for networking issues like Jitter and Packet Loss.

FEC (forward error correction) allows the coder to encapsulate previous RTP data in newer packets, so the decoder can then use the data to re-construct lost audio.

Tests have been done proving that Opus is capable of having a full high-quality audio conversation with 40% packet loss.

RE: Add FEC and DTx to Opus codec
Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion. For Opus codec in Yealink phones.
We don't support FEC now, I had submitted this technology to our RD.
They knew this kind of technology now, they will consider in future version.

Yes, please add support for FEC and DTx (we're currently using T48S). Will Yealink be releasing support for these options soon?

I don't think so. It's hard to say.
Our RD will consider, but from current plan.
They won't add this feature in coming version.
Maybe next year or next two years.

Its so simple just a compile option on the opus codec, then advertise on the SDP via useinbandfec=yes

If the decoder on either end doesn't support it, its simply not used! Disappointed in yealink - kept up with all features to date!

It has been over a year now, any update, Yealink? There are a lot of users who could benefit from this feature.

RE: Add FEC and DTx to Opus codec
wow, just ran across this thread trying to figure out how to set the packet loss %. This is immensely dissapointing!

This should be nothing more than a compile time option like Kevin2 says, but of coarse adding the configuration options to set the PL%....

3CX added opus support and I believe the next version (15.6) will have it enabled on all compatible yealinks. Right now it's configurable.

This is a substantial userbase basically 'coming online' and is going to want FEC/PLC working.
