Disable Users from programming buttons on the telephone

Hi sorry in advance if this has been answered, I couldn't find it

We are having an issue where users are adding "lines" of co-workers to their phones and not "BLFs" from the telephone interface.

They are then annoyed when they get VM alerts -> Screen is telling them they have x messages, when they personally have none, but the "line" user may have messages.

My questions is two-fold:

(1) Is there a way to stop the notifications appearing on the phone, when other lines are programmed to the softkeys as a "Line"

(2) Can I block users from adding button mapping on their phones.

1. You can stop the VM notification in firmware V73 by disabling VM popup under Feature-> Notification Popups. But it will affect all accounts.

2. Do you mean that you want to prevent users from configuring a linekey? If yes, it may not be achieved since users can always access it by long press linekey. May I know why do you want to block it?

Yes we are trying to prevent them from longpress programming the key, at least from programming the key as a line (BLF's\speedials are okay)...we of course can keep them out of the web interface and admin phone interface by changing the username and password.

If we disable the vm notification pop-up, will the MWI still show for voicemail on other lines programmed to the phone - if we can not block longpress line button programming - as per the issue in the previous paragraph.

Bottom line we only want the user to get alerted to their own (primary) voicemail and want to block them ideally from adding other line buttons to their phones, so they don't get alerted to other messages. If we can restrict them to allowing only BLF's we thing we can solve the issue.

Hi,

There is an option can block other lines voice message. Go to Account-> Advanced, disable the voice mail display. Then phone won't deal with voice message of this account.

So you can just enable the option of user's own account.
