T22p occasional shocks with PoE
I've dozens of T22p across several locations and at one location at least two have given users mild but noticeable shocks.

All phones are powered via PoE.
The phones did not reset or otherwise indicate any power problem.
So far, the problems have only occurred at one location.

As there are no messages regarding PoE issues on this forum, or any other that I can find, I'm at a loss to understand how the shocks could occur.

Q1: Looking for any insights to this problem.

I have not tried powering phone via adapter.
Q2: If adapter and PoE are both active, which will supply the power?

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
We have users complaining about this on T28 powered by PoE. They are getting hard shocks from the handset to the ear.
It seems to be a Electrostatic discharge to the handset of the device.

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
I have a T22p phone, without PoE, just using the plug-in power adapter, and I get the same shock to the ear. It does seem to build up as I can hear it click, then louder or more frequently, then ZAPP!

There has got to be a fix for this. Or should I just return the phone?

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
Hello all,
1. Does shock means there will no any sound for some seconds during the call?
It happened both with handset and speakerphone?
2. Could you upgrade to our latest firmware and check again?

3. If adapter and PoE are both active, the phone will use POE with higher priority.

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
While the phone is insulated, the electrical distance to ground when using PoE could be quite long. A possible solution is to ground the phone by connecting the outer ring of the DC power plug to a nearby electrical ground.

If this is too awkward, make sure your PoE switch is properly grounded, and consider using an FTP Ethernet cable. Something is causing your phone to build up a substantial charge relative to other nearby objects. Google "PoE Grounding Issues" for more information.

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
Hello,

The shock does not interrupt the call.

I do not use the speakerphone for lengths of time that would let me know if there would be a shock or static build up.

I have no PoE in use, only the A/C adapter.

My phone is currently using:

Firmware Version 7.61.0.80
Hardware Version 5.0.0.60

I will let you know if the firmware update changes anything.

Thank you,

David

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
We got same problem with T48g on POE switches, checked the ground, didn't see any issue. Anyone has suggestions about what else we can do?

The users complained for it because previous phone system never had this issue.

Thanks!

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
Hi,

How many T48G have the problem? What's the phone firmware?
Will it happen in every call or randomly?

The LLDP feature is enabled or disabled?
What if the customer switch the handset of T48G with another one?

Regards,
James

RE: T22p occasional shocks with PoE
Hi ,
We have at least 2 users complain about this issue in this 120 phones office, mainly on one user with 2 phones, it happened when we were using POE on those phones, and we thought that might cause by POE, so we stopped POE and switched these two phones to power adapter, the problem is still there.
User got shocked randomly during the day and today the phone even got restarted after that.
Really need to get this issue fixed, any thoughts? Thanks.

I too have a customer with a T48G that has twice been shocked by the handset. Currently on POE. No guidance from Yealink other than check the firmware?
