Ringer that reads caller ID
Hello,

Coming from Grandstream phones, they had this special ringer that would read out loud the incoming phone number. So, a phone call would come in and the ringer would ring once and then start reading the number "9...2...3...8..1... etc". This is very useful for when you are in the other office and you could know by the number who's calling.

Is there any way for this to be implemented on Yealink T38-G phones? We plan to replace all Grandstream phones with T38s but this feature is a must.

Thank you!

P.S.
I already sent an e-mail to support about this before posting here. Hope this doesn't cause any problems. Thanks!

Hi,
For the phone support a special ringer that would read out loud the incoming phone number, you mentioned that it can read out the number that you know who is calling you,but i have some confusions about it .
1. Most phone number is more than 10 digits , so few people will remember the number of the contact, so even though the ringer let you know the number, few people will not know that who is calling the number
2. When you in office enviroment, if the phone has a ring, many people will see the number from the LCD, and if you know the number i think you can add it to your contacts , so if the people call you ,you can learn who is calling you from the LCD .

From the two items above, it seems this feature not so useful , if there is any misunderstanding, please let me konw .

and Yealink can support a feature distinctive ringtone which i think you can use it for your scenario ,distinctive Ringtone is an advanced feature that enables the phone to play a specific ringtone that is defined in the SIP Invite message.
For more details, please download the document from below link,
http://www.yealink.com/Upload/document/H...265295.pdf

please test the feature to see if it can meet your requirement.
let me know if any misunderstanding.
Best Regards!

About 1:
Well, I suppose that in some environments, like mine, where most calls are from other "internal" numbers (from colleagues in the same PBX), in many cases it would just say a three-digits number...
An idea may be to read the caller name instead (or before/after) the number.

About 2:
I think that "lelzab993" thinks about the situation where you are in an office with nearby workspaces... where you may find out the phone of your colleague at two/three meters from you is ringing, and your colleague is at the toilet, and you may like to know who is calling before picking up his call.

This said, I don't know if this would be really effective for general users (it may result a bit annoying, so I think it should be not enabled by default)... anyway could be very useful for "accessibility" in case of vision-limited people (and it's quite common to have vision-limited people to have switchboard operator jobs). In this last optic, it could also be useful a feature (that is available, for example, in some cell phones) that would "read" (say) the name of the digit you just pressed while you are composing a number.

Thank you, Mauro, for helping explain the situation quiet a bit.

1) Like Mauro said, we have a few vision-impaired employees who find out the country/area code of call by just hearing the first 3-4 numbers. In most cases, the employee responds to the phone call right after he/she hears the first 3-4 digits.

2) It's a call-center environment so we cannot add every number to the contact list because that list would get long pretty fast. That's why the custom ringing feature already in Yealink phones does not cover this specific need.

I hope I was able to clarify the need for the request. Hopefully, you will consider this as a number of call-center employees are vision-impaired (they don't see well the LCD display or the digits are not big enough). That would make Yealink a prime candidate for those situations.

Thank you for your time.

RE: Ringer that reads caller ID
Our old Panasonic 5GHz cordless phones read the CID out loud. Is there a way have the Yealink handsets do same thing? My father is vision impaired and this feature really helps him.

Thank you,
Chris

RE: Ringer that reads caller ID
Hello Everyone,
Is there a setting to get the phone to read the incoming caller ID, and then play the ringtone? The only option I can find is on or off, and when set to on, it just repeats the caller ID over and over.

Thanks and Regards
