SIP T31P problem
Hi,

I just got this T31P. Configured line 1. When I'm called the phone rings.
But when I answer there is no sound. I hear nothing and the caller doesn't hear me.

Shouldn't it work when I pick up the phone when I'm called?

When the phone is in idle mode and you pick up the handset, do you hear a dial tone?

Yes, I do hear a dial tone... It 'sounds', when I'm called, as if the phone is muted.
I discovered when I push the upper white button on the right side of the display TWICE, then I hear sound, and they can hear me.

Of course, this shouldn't be the case.

There is no white button on the right side of the display.
There are two 2-color LED indicators (red/green).
If the indicator lights up green, this means that the account is correctly set up and working.
If the indicator remains off (white button?) then there is something wrong with registering the telephone with the telephone provider.
I suggest checking all settings carefully.

The "White" buttons can be indeed green or red or off=white.
When they are off (=white) I can receive calls.

The button is only green when I press on it. But then I hear the tone to make a call.
So in the normal state, when I'm not making a call (and can be called) the button is not green, but off.

Anyway, I read another topic somewhere else that suggested upgrading the firmware. So I did. And now the functionality is fine. When I call or being called, we can actually talk to each other.

But the caller complains that the voice quality is horrible. It's only good when I set the phone to speaker phone. Somehow my sound seems to be highly distorted. Maybe it's over-modulating (too loud and/or clipping).

I will experiment further.. Anyway thanks for the help :-)
