Auto Provision Firmware

I am trying this right now...

When I set the firmware.url - how does the phone know if it has to download it or not? E.g. how does it know if the referenced file is a newer version of the firmware than it already runs? I don't think the phone should download the firmware file regularly just to determine each time again that this is not a newer version.

I just configured that and rebooted a phone and it already has the same firmware version like the file I configured in the firmware.url. In the provisioning server log file I saw it downloaded its configuration as it booted and afterwards also the firmware file (but did nothing because already up to date).

I then also booted up another phone that had older firmware and it correctly downloaded and then updated its firmware. So the feature works. I am just wondering if this needs to be optimized so the phones do not download the firmware file without need over and over again.

Am I missing something?
