XML Directory Object Parameters - NerdUno - 07-17-2013 08:09 PM

Please consider adding the ability to pass a phone number to another URI as part of the directory lookup process. Unlike the InputScreen object which allows the passing of a Parameter with a URI, right now you can only add a DIAL button to let the user dial the number retrieved from a directory lookup. The number itself is not exposed in the XML interface.

We would like to be able to use the selected number from a directory lookup for other purposes. For example, we have written an SMS Messaging XML Module for the T46G. Being able to pass the phone number as a parameter to this SMS module would allow us to pre-fill the SMS number field on the InputScreen object rather than forcing the user to retype the number they just looked up in the directory.

Another example would be customer records. Being able to use a directory lookup to find a name and then use the phone number as a key to another lookup would be most helpful for businesses that typically store orders by phone number.

Hi NerdUno,
Do you mean you want to custom the softkey in Directory.xml, so you can use the number from directory to do some other operation, for example, send this number to other xml module to do some action?
We will consider/improve our xml browser feature in the future. But currently no plan, sorry.
If this is urgent now, we suggest you can contact local distributor for help, thanks.

Correct. What we basically want is a method to retrieve variables captured in memory on the phone (such as this number from the directory lookup) that currently are not exposed through the XML Browser interface.
