T46G Redefine Hold Button - Ques - briankelly63 - 07-08-2013 11:52 AM

The T46G Hold button can be programmed to perform other functions but as best I can tell those other functions can only be initiated when your NOT on a call.

I would like to redefine the operation of the Hold button to instead function as a speed dial to the Asterisk parking lot number (70).

Can this be done through the Template layout mentioned in the Admin Guide???

If not, perhaps the option of controlling what call states a redefined key would function in would be helpful.

Hi Brian,
You are correct, the hardkey hold button only take effect in the idle status.
And softkey layout do not have a speed dial feature.
If you want to have park function, you can just set a DSS key as Call park, but no need to configure the Hold hard key.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I understand that can be done but in certain installations its better to eliminate the Hold vs. Park issue completely and have the actual Hold button function as a Park key. There are other brands that do allow that type of redefinition.

Hi Brian,
Sorry currently we don't support such feature. Only can use Call park to achieve this.
Thanks.

Are there any plans to implement this in a newer release? It would save us a great deal of headache. Customers need the functionality as streamlined as possible and the Park vs Hold situation comes up on every install.

The "HOLD" button would not be a parking slot, but would act as the "Call Park" key (key that places a caller into the parking lot / the parking slot is dynamic). You could still have BLF keys that monitor each of your parking slots. Other manufacturers have this ability as it is a common practice.

interesting... how do you know what spot it goes to to tell the person where to grab their call?

Whenever you press "Hold / Park" one of the Softkey lights up that you have BLF's set on (i.e. we have keys programmed for Park 71, Park 72, Park 73, etc...)

We also have a "Parked Calls" key that whenever you press it will list all calls in the parking lot (listing their slot and caller ID).
