UVC40 - Freezing issues - Printable Version

UVC40 - Freezing issues - ecr@3ctechnology.no - 06-08-2023 07:07 PM

Several of our customers are having issues with the UVC40 freezing and not working correctly.

This happens every time the camera is used by an application.
It will work for about 2-5 seconds before freezing in place and remaining frozen until closed.


- The laptops connected to the UVC40's have had all the latest updates installed using windows update.
-We've tried with laptops both with windows 10 and windows 11.
- all the UVC40's have the latest firmware installed, and have all been factory reset.

Sidenote:On that topic, how come the latest firmware for the UVC40 isn't available here?

Now the UVC40's in question were originally routed through docking stations(various types Stolzen Huddle hub & Targus).
Using a USB cable directly from UVC40 to the laptop doesn't make a difference in the cameras behavior.


All the UVC40's in question are that they were all bought around the same time period.

Could it be a bad batch?

For reference, here are a few of the serial numbers of the devices in question:
806607E117001974
806607E117002181
806607E117002381


Any pointers on how to fix these issues?

Do we need to RMA these?

Since a couple of days, using Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.4472 (64-bit), my camera randomly but constantly freeze.

I have encountered the same problem with a UVC84-BYOD kit we installed at work. It works with older laptops, e.g. HP Z-books purchased in 2019. However, all our newer laptops encounter the same behaviour described here. The camera shows video for a few seconds, then the video freezes. I was able to solve the problem briefly about 2 months ago by updating the camera's firmware to the latest version. However, that fix didn't last.

One of the groups of laptops that are having problems are HP ZBook Power 15.6 inch G9 Mobile Workstation PC, product number 4T4Z8AV. 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-12700H. BIOS version U97 Ver. 01.09.01 - 11/16/2023. I've tried Windows updates, driver updates, but still no luck. The camera is now on the latest firmware.
