Using Hearing Aid with Yealink T5x series - Chris708 - 10-05-2022 10:52 PM

Hey all.

Have a client that has a BlueTooth (BT) hearing aid that she uses with her Cell phone's BT. Her hearing aid doesn't have a MIC so the audio from her Cell comes through the BT hearing aid and her voice goes through the Cell phone's speaker.

I have a T53W that I tested some BT earbuds with and they worked. The earbuds have a speaker and a MIC. I had to set the T53W's Headset button on for this to work.

I also tried testing my cell phone's BT with the Yealink phone and while they did connect and I dialed from my cell through the Yealink. Once the call connected, I heard no audio from either end. My cell phone may not be a good test.

Back to my client's hearing aid. We are still trying to get them to connect to her T5xW phone and it won't so that's on issue.

But my bigger question is, if she is able to connect to the Yealink phone with her hearing aid, would her hearing aid work with the Yealink phone?

Hi Chris,

I can't really answer the question because I don't use a hearing aid, but if her hearing aid is Bluetooth 4.2 compatible, I don't think it should be a problem pairing it to the T53W.
The T53W has built-in Bluetooth 4.2

Looking at the Yealink SIP-T53W Datasheet, I read that the handset complies with the latest Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) regulations and helps the person with hearing loss hear their voice more clearly.

Thanks for replying back.

I have been trying to do some checking and thank you for the obvious datasheet --- I didn't even look there. After reading that datasheet however, it just mentions that the handset meets HAC (Hearing Aid Compatibility) --- which is still a positive aspect but doesn't help with the Bluetooth portion. The person we are working with wants to be able to hear the call through their hearing aid (no handset involved at this point) and speak to the person on the call. The speaking part may not work as well if the Hearing Aid connects but we have to get to that point to test further.

Also, good point on the Bluetooth compatibility version being 4.2. We are waiting to hear back from the health professionals who set her up with her hearing aid and see what the issue may be.

Just the issue where her hearing aid wouldn't connect to the phone is a primary problem at this point but we'll see how things progress.

Hi,

Did you manage to get the Hearing Aid to work with the Yealink T53W Handset?
