W52P and W53H Handset Compatibility... - starion - 04-26-2021 10:28 PM

Customer has a W52P base with 3 handsets. 2 of the handsets have gone bad. We ordered a couple of W53H handsets that are supposed to be compatible.

When we try to register the new handsets, they give an error that says something about unable to sync, or sync is busy and to try again later.

Any ideas on what is wrong and how to get these going?

Hi,

According to the W52P Datasheet is the W53H, running on v83 firmware, basically compatible with the W52P Base Station, running on v81 firmware.

For full compatibility I think you have to replace the base too. Say the W60P, but then the W52H will be Partly compatible.

So, I'm still going to have to wind up replacing the base station.

From the customer's perspective, it doesn't make sense to keep buying the whole system every 2-3 years because one of the handsets broke and is no longer supported/available. That's pretty poor life expectancy for a VoIP phone that the customer doesn't use 95% of the functions on.

We'd be better off to sell them a single or two line gateway with an inexpensive 3-handset/base station from Office Depot.

Also, anybody else want to weigh in here? According to Yealink sales, the W53H IS compatible with the W52P base station, which I can find no evidence to support. Just trying to decide whether to send these back or not. Should also point out that the W52P does not show EOL on their website, further aggravating the situation between our company, Yealink, and the customer. Customer is stating (rightfully so) that Yealink still shows it as a current product and therefore should have availability of replacements.
