Avoid Firmware V85 at all costs! - Luke Escude - 02-13-2021 12:06 AM

Posting up a warning message to anyone wanting to upgrade their devices (T48S, T46S, T42S, T41S, and W60b units) to the new V85 firmware.

We upgraded about 1,500 of these devices, even after performing plenty of testing, and regretted it deeply as customers began complaining about the following bugs:

1. Phones not detecting when the internet is back up - If the internet goes down temporarily, a phone may not reconnect automatically and will require a manual reboot.

2. Takes about 10 to 12 minutes for provisioning to occur - When provisioning NOTIFY is sent to the devices, the red light will flash for nearly 12 minutes for no reason. This isn't an issue per se, but it freaks out end users.

3. W60b manual reboot required to complete upgrade. We had a LOT of customers complain that they had to reboot their bases manually after the upgrade, and multiple times after.

4. Takes 10 to 12 minutes for initial provisioning via DM/RPS.

5. Overall instability.

Downgrading back to V84 has solved all of the above issues.

We're not sure how this is all possible, given that the firmware has been out for a year now. But, Yealink is not responding to our tickets requesting help or more information.

So, beware V85! Wait until it's past minor build 30 or so.
