Unsuccessful upgrade caused CP960 hangs at Initializing - NezarH - 04-05-2020 03:24 PM

Hello,

I have Yealink CP960 which used to work well until I decide to upgrade the firmware (old firmware 73.80.0.50). I have download the latest firmware CP960-73.84.0.25.rom while the upgrade process is taking place I think the Power went off accidentally! (Poe injector cable get lose).

now can't boots up, and it hangs at Initializing screen.
I'm unable to do anything at all. How to reach recovery mode on cp960!? Any ideas Please.

Finally Good News!

Yealink reply to me previous ticket and sent me link contain Recovery mode process on CP960 (plus other model, seems updated version!) the most important they sent me new files CP960.bin and CP960.rfs which were the main reason for the recovery mode to work this time!

it's working now .

the process :

1- prepare formatted usb flash (FAT32)
2-copy the needed files (CP960.bin and CP960.rfs and the CP960.rom) (I have used what yealink tech. sent me) to the flash drive.
3-plug the USB flash drive next to the micro usb
4-switch on the CP960
5-press Home (the circle) when you see "initializing" keep press until you see another screen which will do the recovery automatically ! cant be easier than this .

Thats it .

BIG THANKS TO MongoTEL_Support , and Thank you Yealink Technical Support team.

They'll not block you (I've uploaded recovery files here in the past...) If something they'll remove them.

Hello NezarH,

I have exactly the same issue.
Yealink send me two different zip files for CP960 recovery.
Unfortunately I get the same result with both of them.

Have they also supplied the CP960.rom or have you downloaded and renamed it?

Can you supply the files please?

please upload full zip, what we need for this, i have two devices with same problem, it's comedy..

To sum it up.
I tried several rom-files but I could not make the recovery work.

I got two packages of CP960.bin and CP960.rfs

Package 1 is from October 2016
Package 2 is from March 2016

Yealink support told me if the two packages are not working, it is a HW fault.

No, it is not. This perfectly working unit was bricked because there is no warning that you cannot revert to regular SIP firmware once you are on Teams.

Firmware update was done and not interrupted. Phone rebooted and this happend.

As warranty is anyway gone. I opened the phone and found a debug UART for logging.
Unfortunately autoboot cannot be stopped, maybe it is disabled.

Recovery fails because it is not reading the CP960.rom file properly:

I tried , I got this message : "The file you attached is too large. The maximum size for that type of file is 1024 kilobytes"

also this"You are currently using 19.68 MB of your allocated attachment usage (Unlimited) [View My Attachments]"

File size :
CP960.bin (6.61MB)
CP960.rfs (3.58MB)

however when I choice attachment , Browse , it showing me "New Attachment(Max 8M):" but didn't allow me add attachment !

what to do!?

I guess the system does not allow so big files.
Maybe you can use some filehoster like wetransfer and just post the link?
