Unable to see Caller ID when listening to voicemails? T48S - kogarahchiro - 01-15-2020 02:07 AM

Hi there,

I'm unable to see the caller ID on screen when listening to voicemails using the handset.

Please help me with this - it is a HUGE problem for me in my business
It is not uncommon for me to have ~50 missed calls and 20+ voicemails from one day to the next.
When the receptionist listens to the voicemails, it does not show on screen any kind of information that would be helpful, particularly the called ID.

Many people either do not leave their phone number, or say it so quickly that it can't be taken down easily, or poor audio quality prevents us from hearing it.
It is then quite difficult and time consuming to try and match up that call from the call list later on. Lost productivity on this alone is probably twice the cost of the phone over the course of a year.

My ~10 year old Samsung system with its 10-15 digit LCD screen was able to show this information.
With its lovely big screen, I find it hard to believe that the T48S isn't able to also show date and time of call when I'm listening to the message.

Surely this is a feature that I'm able to activate on something that is so new and with such a big screen?

Voicemail is handled by your PBX; all the Yealink phone does is place a call to the voicemail mailbox access number. From the phone's perspective this is no different from any other call, and once dialed the display simply shows the call status and normal transfer/hangup/etc options.

Visual voicemail, which is the common term for the kind of thing that you are looking for, has to be supported and provided by the PBX. Contact your service provider or PBX vendor to see if they have support and can configure/activate it for you.

In many cases voicemail to email, which is also a common PBX feature, may prove to be even more useful as often such emails will include caller ID, call time, etc as details of the email body along with the recorded message attached. Same thing though you need to contact your service provider or PBX vendor about that.

This will not work on a system that was unable to identify the Caller ID info.
