Best practices to notify unconditional call forwarding with Asterisk - oliv - 08-16-2019 04:58 PM

Hello,

When a user configures Unconditional Call Forwarding, (s)he wouldn't receive call anymore until (s)he cancels this Unconditional Call Forwarding.

In an Asterisk environment, what are your current best practices to persistently remind the user of the ongoing forwarding ?

1. Do you rely on phone-side forwarding ? These seems to display a persistent icon on the screen top line.
2. Do you rely on server-side forwarding ?
3. Suggestions ?

Best regards

Recommend phone side forwarding as that gives the user a visual notification and makes the most sense to many users.

If you for some reason need to monitor the forwarding state on the server, then just configure the call forward on/off dial codes. The phone will automatically send these when forwarding is turned on/off, and that will let the server track status.
