Voice Mail displayed on T48S? - yeayea - 11-01-2018 12:19 PM

Is it possible to see a list of all messages on a voice mailbox and select/delete/listen to individual calls on the voice mailbox?
Instead of listening to the voice of the mailbox and select the messages on the box by using cryptic number keys??

Thanks for help.

If you are talking about a Visual Voicemail system (like you'd have on an iPhone) then as far as I know Yealink does not offer anything first party but with their XML browser it would be possible to build your own.

I've attached some images of one that I built so you can see what's possible, it's on a T46, but the T48 would be similar. I'm using the Asterisk PBX and once Yealink corrects some lingering XML bugs I intend to release my code.

Otherwise I believe the REST Apps from FreePBX also include a visual voicemail app: https://www.freepbx.org/phone-apps/

Yes, thats exactly what we want to have.

But we are using an Auerswald 5500R system not Asterix PBX.
Would that be a problem?

And why is Yealink not putting such an (I think important) feature on their phones?

As far as I'm aware no VoIP phone maker provides a visual voicemail app on their phones unless the phones are bundled with the SIP server.

Currently there's no Visual Voicemail standard so it's not like Yealink could just add this feature and have it work everywhere, they would have a write hundreds of different apps for every different SIP server in existence.

Yealink provides tools through the XML Browser that companies who make SIP servers can use to develop their own visual voicemail apps.

I'm not familiar with the Auerswald 5500R, so I can't tell you if it's simular or not to Asterisk.

More importantly there have been major lawsuits in the past regarding any sort of Visual Voicemail type of setup. In the US the very concept of "visual voicemail" as you describe is patented by a troll who has in the past actively gone after anyone they can find. Apple ended up paying major royalties for the privilege of having their setup on the iOS. Similarly I believe FreePBX has a commercial module that will provide the XML to do it, but part of the fee for that module goes to paying the license of use.

So yes, you can build your own but depending on your location you may potentially get sued for it. This is one of the reasons many PBX vendors never bothered to implement/offer it (didn't want to pay licensing to somebody else).

Thank you very much for your great help!
This explains it, why you can not find such Visual Voice Mail on the SIP-phones.Very bad situation.

Thanks again!
