Try upgrading to V84 firmware it is out and commonly available now.

I have done testing and had no issues with OpenVPN holding a stable connection for 5+ days on a T41S running version 66.84.0.10.

Now I have not tried loading verison 83 firmware to confirm that it is definitely broken, but enough people have reported issues so I just assume the problem has been fixed in version 84. Try upgrading and post back your result so we can know for sure.
