My hope was that the Group that I modified via auto provision would change - as it did - but the Groups that the end user created would be left unchanged - they were erased.

This is why I wanted to use the remote phone book for "Company" numbers and leave the local phone book for the end users. But most of my customers would like a different ring tone for the Company phone numbers - which I could not achieve with the Remote Phone Book.

Hi Joshua

Thank you for your information. I will check with R&D and let you know if any update.

Hi Joshua

P&M want to know if it is urgent now for you? If not, can we wait for future FW? Or may at the end of 2018.

BTW, can you also tell me:
1. Actually only end user set distinctive ringtone for different contacts, may I know why you want set distinctive for different department? Is there any specially requirement?
2. I think all 2000 phones already finish deployment, right? Can you tell me customer name?

This can wait. It's not losing me any business. The main purpose is to put all the customers extensions into a group and assign a different ring tone to that group to achieve a distinctive ring for the phones for extension call versus an outside call. My customers then contact me if there is a name change, I make the change for them in auto provision, then all the phones update automatically.

If the user is not sitting at their desk but can hear their phone ring, if they can differentiate if it's a fellow employee calling versus an outside caller, then they may or may not be inclined to stop what they are doing and run to answer the phone.

RE: Remote Phonebook Ringtone - joshua@itstel.com - 06-01-2018 10:19 AM

Small businesses with people doing many tasks 5-10 employees. External and internal calls are about equal.

RE: Remote Phonebook Ringtone - johnkiniston - 07-09-2018 10:31 PM

Joshua, Have you thought about using an alert-info header to change the ring for your internal to internal calls?

I do it with Asterisk by setting 'Alert-Info: InternalRing' and having the phone play a different ringtone when it gets that header.
