T42G VLAN settings for PC VLAN - Uwe - 08-29-2017 11:52 AM

Hi,
we are new to Yealink phones. We want to use a T42G connected to VLAN 41 und thru the phone a PC connected to VLAN 31.

The Switches are HPE / aruba HP 2530-48G-PoEP Switch (J9772A)

the phone: Firmware Version 29.80.150.2
Hardware Version 29.1.0.0.0.0.0

We tried:
switchport VLAN 41 untagged, VLAN 31 tagged
switchport VLAN 41 tagged, VLAN 31 tagged
Phone:
WAN port disabled / enabled, VID 41
PC Port diesbled / enabled, VID 31

In some cases the PC gets a IP address from VLAN 41, or apipa address

In no config it gets an IP from VLAN 31.

What is the correct configuration on the switch and the phone?

Thanks
Uwe

Hi Uwe,

Do you mean the network cable of PC is connected to the PC port of the phone?
What you want is phone and PC get IP address from different Vlan?

Yes,
the phone is connected at the Internet port to the switch, and the PC is connected to the PC port.

In the routing switch is ip helper configured, one config for each VLAN. when i set one port on the switch to VLAN 31 untagged and another port to VLAN 41 untagged and then I connect there devices, they get ip-addresses from the VLAN, e. g. 10.110.31.xxx and 10.110.41.xxx

But I don't know how to set the switch and the phone to do this. When it was not a yealink phone but a small manageble switch the I had to set VLAN 31 tagged and VLAN 41 untagged to this port, the switch would get 10.110.41.xxx as its address and I had to configure another port from the small switch as VLAN 31 untagged and the the device at this port would get 10.110.31.xxx as its address.

How can I make this work with the T42G? The T42G should get an IP address from thge VLAN 41 and the PC should get an IP address from VLAN 31.

Configure the switch port so that:
a) VLAN 41 is allowed as tagged
b) Untagged/default VLAN for the port is 31.

Then configure the T42G under advanced network settings to have VLAN ID of 41. Make sure Span to PC is disabled.

That should do it. When you power on the phone, all traffic from it will try to communicate on VLAN 41. When you plug any device into the PC port on the back of the phone, it will be passed to the switch untagged, and the switch will assign it/treat it as part of VLAN 31.
