T41P handset feedback loop - dcfindlay - 02-26-2015 09:21 AM

I have a couple of new T41P's. Firmware 36.73.0.45.

The handset microphone is very sensitive. You can hear your voice very loudly in the earpiece. In fact it's so loud, the phone will produce a feedback squeal when the handset is placed close to a hard surface, like laying it down on a table or getting close to the set when hanging up.

This happens with the handset volume turned all the way down.

I've found various discussions about how to adjust the microphone volume. The setting I've tried is voice.handset_send. Is this the correct variable? I've tried settings between -30000 and 50 but there is no change in the behavior.

Never mind. I found it.

voice.side_tone = -20

fixed it.
