What is the difference between WS-C3850-48F-L and WS-C3850-48F-S ?
The two models are sharing same hardware architecture, the difference is the software, WS-C3850-48F-L comes with LAN Base, WS-C3850-48F-S with IP Base. And WS-C3850-48F-L can be upgraded to WS-C3850-48F-S via software license.

Just software license level - LAN Base vs IP Base. IP Base is software with basic Layer3 functions (L3 interfaces - SVI, static routing etc.)
