Cannot hear caller - steveedwards - 09-26-2014 12:18 AM

I bought this W52P a few months ago and at the start it seemed to be working well until recently nearly every call i answer i cannot hear the caller but they can hear me.

It is really frustrating as i can't seem to find what the issue is. Has anyone any ideas? Angry

Steve

Hi,

One way audio -this is what you have- is usually caused by the router.

Please try next to resolve this issue:
Router: Be sure SIP ALG is disabled and forward the proper ports to your W52P.
W52P: Make sure Keep-alive Message is Enabled.

Thanks for the quick response. I will try this later when i get home from work and let you know the outcome Smile

Hi again,
Well i checked my W52P settings and Keep-alive Message is Enabled but unfortunately i don't think i can set SIP ALG to disabled because according to http://docs.sipcentric.com/article/141-disabling-sip-alg i can't do that with a Virgin Super Hub Router Sad

Any other ideas?

Hi Steve,

I’m doing my best.

Are the ports 11780-1180 UDP forwarded to the W52P?
Network > Advanced > Local RTP Port

I assume that the volume level of the handset is not too low?

Have you tried the workaround as described in the article? E.g. use port 5065 instead of 5060.

Immediately after you have placed a call and somebody calls you, you have never an issue in audio.
Can you verify this?

BTW: Are you running the latest firmware?

And Steve,

The one way audio occurs in most of call but not in every call?
If you do a hold/unhold operation can you hear voice?
A pcap trace and level 6 syslog can help confirm the problem.
