When factory default is set, does it also revert to a lower firmware?

I've updated my phones to the latest firmware (T22P's) but it seems like they revert back to older firmware versions.

Hi ccwtech,

Generally, it won't revert to a lower firmware after you reset the phone.
Maybe your phone have autoprovison after reset phone.
So you should delete the content of Sever URL field. It won't autop after reboot the phone. Like below picture.

Ok, thanks.
I checked that and it's not the issue. Phones continue to revert to old firmware on factory reset. This causes an issue when using Schmoozecom Endpoint manager as there is a legacy template and a V70 template. If it drops down to pre-v70 on reset it won't then auto provision.

Maybe your phone gets the provisioning server config via DHCP option 66 from your DHCP server/router.

Update: You could disable "DHCP Active" like in the pic above, to prevent this.

Unfortunately that has nothing to do with it. It is the issue of before v70 firmware and after v70 firmware and which template to use.

Essentially when you update the firmware on a phone, a factory reset shouldn't also erase the firmware update, just put back to factory settings with the updated firmware. Firmware regression should be a manual process and only done in very limited circumstances.

I think what the support guys are trying to say is that Firmware regression is NOT part of the factory default (wouldn't make sense anyway... its called firmware for a reason, in that it is written to flash and stored... there can only ever be one). Never had been able to be "rolled back" (at least not for the last 4 years that we've been using Yealink product).

Far more likely is what Yealink is trying to tell you... when you default the phone, it reverts to it's default provisioning settings, and is grabbing some other firmware off your tftp server or some other host.

You can prove 100% for sure by doing a simple test. Boot up a phone, go to it's menu and view the firmware version. Then, issue a factory reset. As soon as the phone shows "resetting" disconnect the network cable, and leave it unplugged until the reset completes and the phone boots back up again. Check the firmware version. It should still be the same as previous.
