T2XP Series Phones Experiencing Buzzing/Humming - onellpadmin - 05-16-2014 01:22 AM

I have had two T26P phones experience the exact same issues in two different geographical locations within the last week.

They both suddenly started experiencing a buzzing sound that can be heard by both parties in the call. It sounds exactly like electrical interference and can sometimes be stopped by holding the phone in a specific way while making contact with another object in the office. Had to temporarily replace them with old Polycom's I had in storage, much to my dismay.

Troubleshooting included attempting new codecs including G.711 and G.729, attempting to operate the phone strictly through PoE instead of the power adapter, factory reset of phones, moving the phone to different locations and different ports/switches. Also tried swapping the handset cord and still experienced the same issue.

The buzz is not heard while on speakerphone or while using a wireless headset plugged into the headset port. It is only heard while using the provided handset. I would have to assume the problem is either in the phones base itself, or far more likely in the actually handset piece. Perhaps frayed wires or internal components have come loose in the handset thus causing electrical interference or an oversensitive microphone picking up on electrical humming from nearby components.

Would appreciate help and guidance on what to do next to solve this issue. Thank you.

Also attempted one more thing to confirm it is the handset piece. Took a working handset from another Yealink T46G phone, plugged it in to the T26P having issues, and the noise was gone. Plugged the handset that was in the T26P into the T46G, and the noise issues carried over. This confirms the problem is in the handset piece itself. Would like to hear any suggestions on how to fix and/or replace. Thank you.

I had the exact same thing happen. Out of the blue, a client calls and says they have 2 or 3 phones making this noise (exactly like you described) and don't know why. I took over two new phones to swap out, and at the last minute, decided to just swap out the handset.
PROBLEM GONE! The phone was fine, but the handset for some reason was causing the noise.

Replacement handsets are ***** enough that I just replaced them rather than doing an rma since shipping would have cost more than they were worth.

Good luck!

Hi all, you can ask for handset RMA from your distributor. Attached your phones's SN number.

I've also got this issue, this is the 3rd or 4th time it has happened now, across an installation of 15 T46G phones which are only 12 to 15 months old.

There seems to be a quality control problem here which is disappointing.

Hi Cjtervor,

Where are you from and from who did you buy the phones?
Have you feedback the issue to your vendor? If not, please feedback to them.

BTW, what's the phone SN number?

Regards,
James

Hi

We purchased the phones from broadbandbuyer.co.uk in the UK.

We have been able to obtain replacement handsets previously, but it has been a very slow painful process and the first time they insisted on us sending the whole phone unit back.

I am about to report the latest one via the yealink.co.uk warranty claim form in the hope that this will be a better service than going back to the retailer.

Serial number of the latest one to go wrong is - 1109013061202134

Regards
Chris

Received handset back from Yealink today, with note that it was tested for 30 minutes and no fault found.

This is very frustrating. We know from previous failures that if you plug a handset that demonstrates this fault into another phone, it will demonstrate the fault with some phones and not others. Further, leaving it unplugged for an extended period sometimes seems to reset the fault.

So now we have to wait for the fault to re-occur and then go another week without a phone when we have to return it again.

There is something wrong if me and other customers are experiencing this issue.

I am experiencing the exact same problem with a T46G (loudspeaker is ok, just the handset with loud buzz). SN is 1109013051203011.

We just purchased a many of these phones, I am now worried that I will have this issue on many of them. Unfortunately I had to buy them overseas and cannot have a distributor in Brazil deal with it for me.

Please Yealink pay attention to the quality of your products.

Easily fixed.. Take out screw behind soft rubber stopper. Handset shell is held in place on top and bottom by earpiece and mod jack. Use thin plastic tool to unlink and it will come right off. The hum is because one of the wires sealed with wax on the back of the mic wears and then touches mic case pull the wires out of the wax a bit and it will stop...

Solutions to the buzzing problem on Yealink handsets are discussed in more detail in this thread (http://forum.yealink.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1272), and there the community has developed good workarounds you may want to learn about.

The workaround described by briankelly63 did not work for me, but in the above mentioned thread I found a solution to my problem.
