[FAQ] How to upgrade EXP38/39/40? - Yealink Support - 03-13-2014 10:27 PM
This post is for you to use a special T26P/T28P/T38G/T46G firmware to update the latest firmware for expansion module EXP38/EXP39/EXP40.
1. Upgrading to EXP38 Firmware(5.17.0.0) and EXP39 Firmware(5.16.0.0) by T26P
(1). Update your T26P to version 6.60.0.101(EXP39), 6.60.200.241(EXP38)
(2). Enter the web setting page of T26P, Upgrade->Advanced->Zero Active, choose Enabled option.
(3). Reboot the T26P, the phone will enter to page as below when it is initializing.
Press OK button in 5 seconds, phone will enter the page as below:
Please insert an expansion to update!
Connect your EXP38/EXP39 and it will upgrade automatically.
The screen keeps white in upgrade process.
After upgrading, the LCD of T26P will prompt:
The expansion update Done!
Stay in this interface for 5 seconds, the screen will turn to
Please insert an expansion to update!
Then another EXP38/EXP39 can be connected for upgrading.
After upgrading all devices you must reboot the phone to enter the interface normally.
[Note]:
(1).The new EXP38/EXP39 firmware only can be use in V60 firmware or higher.
(2). Don’t power off or pull out the connected line between EXP and the phone. Please power on your phone and upgrade EXP38/EXP39 again if you power off or pull out the connected line.
(3). Don’t connect EXP38/EXP39 if this interface of device has not prompted Please insert an expansion to update!, Otherwise it won’t upgrade automatically.
2. Upgrading to EXP38 Firmware(5.17.0.0) and EXP39 Firmware(5.16.0.0) by T28P
(1). Update your T28P to version 2.60.0.101(EXP39), 2.60.0.202(EXP38)
(2). Enter the web setting page of T28P, Upgrade->Advanced->Zero Active, choose Enabled option.
(3). Reboot the T28P, the phone will enter to page as below when it is initializing.
Press OK button in 5 seconds, phone will enter the page as below:
Please insert an expansion to update!
Connect your EXP38/EXP39 and it will upgrade automatically.

The expansion update Done!

Then another EXP38/EXP39 can be connected for upgrading.

3. Upgrading to EXP38 Firmware(5.17.0.0) and EXP39 Firmware(5.16.0.0) by T38G
The specific firmware version of SIP - T38G IP phone is 38.70.0.162.rom.

How to upgrade EXP38/EXP39:
(1).Upgrade T38G to the firmware 38.70.0.162:
(2).Set a DSS key as Zero Touch
(3).Press DSS key, it will prompt “Update Expand”, then press OK button, and it will prompt "Please insert expansion!"
(4).Connect EXP38/EXP39 to T38G, then the LCD will prompt you to connect it again. Please reconnect the EXP38/EXP39 to T38G.
(5).Then it will take some time to upgrade(Please wait patiently and don’t reconnect it again during this period.)
(6).After a successful update, the phone LCD screen will prompt "Update Success!".
(7).After a few seconds, the phone LCD screen will prompt “Please insert expansion!” again. Then you can repeat step (4) to finish upgrading all your EHS36 devices.
4. Upgrading to EXP40 Firmware(6.16.0.0) by T46G
The specific firmware version of SIP - T46G IP phone is 28.72.0.205.

How to upgrade EXP40:
(1).Upgrade T46G to the firmware 28.72.0.205:
(2).Set a DSS key as Zero Touch
(3).Press DSS key, it will prompt “Update Expand”, then press OK button, and it will prompt "Please insert expansion!"
(4).Connect EXP40 to T46G, then the LCD will prompt you to connect it again. Please reconnect the EXP40 to T46G.
(5).Then it will take some time to upgrade(Please wait patiently and don’t reconnect it again during this period.)
(6).After a successful update, the phone LCD screen will prompt "Update Success!".
(7).After a few seconds, the phone LCD screen will prompt “Please insert expansion!” again. Then you can repeat step (4) to finish upgrading all your EXP40 devices.
Please remember to upgrade your firmware of Phones after upgrading EXP successfully. These special firmwares can't be used for normal use.
