Yealink T28P Firmware Upgrade Fails - Michelth - 01-14-2014 06:29 AM

Hi,

I'm breaking my head over this issue for a few days now.

I'm trying to upgrade 10 Yealink T28P phones via the web interface, I downloaded the newest firmware and tried to update. It constantly skips the update of the devices and stays on the same firmware. I also tried putting them in recovery mode and pushing the firmware with TFTP. That also fails with the following error: Update fail, please reboot (12).

I have different firmware versions on my yealink devices:

Firmware Version 2.70.13.9
Hardware Version 1.0.0.39

AND

Firmware Version 2.61.13.22
Hardware Version 1.0.0.39

Cany somebody hint me to the right direction? Smile

Are you trying this version http://yealink.com/Upload/T2X/2014102/2.72.0.1.zip ?
Or are you trying another version?
Have you tried another version?

The number 12 being displayed indicates that the existing firmware on the phone has software protection and can not be upgraded with the new firmware you are using. You need to find out who the existing firmware on the phone was produced for and contact them to see if they have a later version you could use to update your phones

Hi micheltenhove,

Because your version has software protection from TIPTEL, you can't upgrade to our neutral version in the website. Please contact with your distributor TIPTEL for help.

Best Regards

Hello,

We have several T28P phones in our company and I can't do the upgrade too. We bought them online.
What can we do? The update runs for a 3 minutes and then he reboots. The update isn't done but the phone works.

Version

Firmware Version 2.70.13.9
Hardware Version 1.0.0.39

regards
Matthieu

Similar problem here. Also from the Netherlands.
I just have a nasty feeling about this now.
Happened with 2 clients

We have been given a batch of 12 Tiptel VP28 (KPN)...of which 3 pieces were defective out of the box. And 3 other showed defects within 48 hours. I found out the older hardware versions are just faulty.
50% failure rate is a bit high. I've convinced them to buy Cisco.

Another client had something similar. They had some Tiptels of which 4 out of 6 broke down within a week. So they opted to buy something else.
This customer was aware Tiptel and Yealink are similare hardware.

As the customer insisted on Yealink I let them buy a pair.
They got the T28P...Did a straight from the box firmware upgrade and..nothin'

It stinks the advice is to contact the dealer for firmware (although forum says to contact Tiptell...who in turn says to contact the dealer.)

I'm tempted to tell them I refuse to service any Tiptel, Yealink, Innovaphone. This is not the service level I expect from a German Company.

So what happened:

After an upgrade...no change in firmware.
I tried different versions of firmware even downgrading.
Even tried a stepwise upgrade (like mandatory with Cisco phones) but nothin' succeeded in reality.

Firmware Version 2.70.188.13
Hardware Version 1.0.0.53

During upgrade is mentions:
__Firmware updating ...
__Please do not power off!
__The operation is done!

Well no change after the upgrade at all...

Edit:
Well found this post, gonna give it a shot....Dodgy...and that also didn't work out...

Hi wish2haveļ¼Œ

Sorry for the late reply.
I think you can find the solution in forum "software protection" or asking Lydis for upgrading your firmware to their custom firmware.
