Full Version: Syslog not working

I am attempting to use Papertrailapp.com for collecting syslogs from a T46 phone running firmware 28.80.0.70.

The site requires you to enter in the hostname:port.
From the GUI, this always creates an invalid hostname error.
From autoprovisioning, it takes the setting.
However, it NEVER sends any syslogs.

syslog.mode="1"
syslog.server="logs3.papertrailapp.com:99999"
syslog.log_level="3"

(In my example, I have changed the port number for security.)

Why would it be that this always fails. I have tried via IP address also.

Thank you.
Hello Guy,

Glad to talk with you on phone.
I just have a check in our system and confirm that adding port number behind hostname is not supported in current firmware.
We did have a customization of this feature on T23 with firmware 44.80.0.73, but it has not been added to common firmware now.

Can you use Ftp/Tftp Server mode?

Regards,
James
No, the website does not offer this as an option.

Can it be added back to the common firmware?
This does not allow us to troubleshoot and I would not want to downgrade the phone.
We have the plan to add the feature but it's probably in V81.
Currenlty can you just install a syslog server that don't request a port number on a PC in customer site?

Regards,
James
yes, this has been resolved by an alternate setup.
However, I would still suggest adding this to V81.
Thank you.

Hi imfloridaguy,

Can I ask how you got the phones to log to papertrailapp? I've been fighting with it separating logs from multiple phones on the same IP.

Thanks
