While upgrading one of our CP960s to work with a zoom room the phone stops boot just after the initialization screen. Its the screen with just the outline of the phone with a spinning circle in the center.

I was thinking that I need to get into recovery mode and load a new firmware with a tftp server but I can't get it to boot into that option.

I'm dead in the water on this phone and could really use some help.
Hi I have the same issue and can't do anything. andy helps please

I have the same issue here, I cant get CP960 to boot after incomplete upgrade, now I am trying to use the recovery mode, I tried the method on the attached image but it didn't work , if i may ask ; what do you mean by use " usb flash drive" to update the firmware!? is that possible? how can I do that, I would appreciate any kind of help.

Recovery from USB is the same as recovery from TFTP, just that the 3 recovery files are on a USB Flash Drive connected in the phone's USB port.

But if you weren't able to get the phone to boot to the recovery then obviously this way would also not work.

Thank you so much for the reply, actually I haven't yet tried the usb process! all i have done is (Long tap the home touch screen prompts "initializing...) as the Procedures on the attached image from Yealink tech without plug in usb with the copied needed files! maybe that's why it didn't work! You gave me a hope...

I have the CP960.rom, But cant find the other 2 ; CP960.bin and CP960.rfs any idea where, how to get that!? should I creat 2 files and rename them with the needed extension!? *.bin and *.rfs

Again, thank you for your kind help.

Thank you for the link.

I manged to copy the needed files from the link you have kindly provided.

*copy the 3 named files to usb flash drive (CP960.rom, CP960.bin, CP960.rfs).
*plugged into the usb port (attached to the screen).
*power on the CP960 (Poe).
*long tab the Home touch key when touch screen prompt "initializing..."

- new screen came up showing "Start updating ..." it seems it's reading the USB, but after a short while the screen becomes blank , I have wait more than 2 hours but nothing changed!

for testing purposes I changed the files names, display show (update failed - 1). if I remove the CP960.rom firmware from the usb flash it will show the same error too... This mean recovery process is reading the data correctly!!!

- I have formatted old usb flash useing FAT32!

the only thing I am not sure of is the firmware version for CP960.rom! I shall try! have tried the latest update 73.84.0.25 and 73.84.0.15 same result.

I am excited because the usb method seems will works if done correctly. most likely I am doing something wrong!

I appreciate all your kind support and guidance meanwhile will keep trying! [attachment=5661][attachment=5662]
It does give you an Update Failed error message. How long into this does it give you this error?

Is the ROM file renamed to CP960.rom, or it was left with the original file name?

I'd try with an older rom instead of a more recent one. Take version 73.80.0.25 from here, export the ROM file from the ZIP and rename the file to CP960.rom.

Thank you for the reply,

Older version seems good idea, however the link is not working (Page error 404 and Chinese language from Yealink site!.

"update failed - 1" message (ONLY) appear if I intentionally made wrong rename to the 3 files names or if I didn't copy the ROM file or if i plugged the USB Flash next to the left side Mic (for testing purposes) to my understanding this mean the recovery process is reading the data and can tell if its wrong !

now I am not getting error message of any kind because the 3 file renamed, copied to the usb flash drive as it should! so ; it start the recovery process and then in less than 15s of reading the usb the screen becomes blank without any errors!

Yes, the ROM file renamed to CP960.rom and the other 2 files.

So, recovery seems working but maybe I should try older ROM! as you advised.
[attachment=5663] this error message only appears if the files is not correctly named or missing ROM file, or flash drive plugged into the mic side..
