Full Version: cannot upgrade or downgrade from x.83.0.55 firmware

We are using 3CX and have recently updated 3CX to version 16. We have several Yealink phones that are on version x.83.0.55 firmware and 3CX states that this version is unsupported. When I attempt to update the phones to a more current firmware, I get a firmware update failed message. To troubleshoot the issue, I have tried both upgrading and downgrading the firmware but, it fails every time. Phone models that we have this issue with are T41S and T21P_E2.

Anyone else have this issue (and possibly a solution)?

Thanks.

Hi,

What you can try is to download the firmware from the 3CX site and do a manual update into the phone(s).
The 3CX supported firmware can be download from here:
https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/

Please do not forget to reset the phone to factory default, by long press the OK button, after you have upgraded the phones.

Hope this will help.

I should have clarified myself. I originally attempted to update the firmware via the 3CX interface. But, it seemed to do nothing. So I proceeded to do multiple attempts at manual updates of the phones. I have tried the firmware provided by 3CX and multiple versions of firmware provided by Yealink. I've tried both, updating after the phone is provisioned, and after a factory reset.

I've done multiple searches to find an answer to this issue. I did find some other posts that mention what appears to be the same issue with x.83.0.55 failing an upgrade or downgrade. But, I have not found any solutions to the problem.

Thanks.
I am having this issue! I think I found a fix. Grab the 66.84.0.35 firmware, flash to that first.
https://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/v160...4.0.35.rom

From there it's looking like it's accepting the .95

I've had something like this before, but this one was super crap. It took looking at another install and seeing what firmware those phones where on.

That worked! Thank you!

Yes. See the previous reply from mujizac.

I did see that. However, that solution didn't work for me. As it turns out, 3cx was downgrading the firmware back to 66.83.0.55 after I manually updated it to 66.84.0.35. I had to first use 3cx to upgrade the firmware, which it wouldn't do but it would provision it to receive it after the 84.0.35 upgrade was manually done.

I had to first use 3cx to upgrade the firmware, which it wouldn't do but it would provision it to receive it after the 84.0.35 upgrade was manually done.

I would try the following in order:
1) Remove the phone from the extension within 3CX (so 3CX does not try to automatically provision the phone).
2) Do a factory reset of the phone (by holding down the OK button for a few seconds, and then the display will appear warning "Reset to Factory", press OK again to confirm the reset.)
3) Manually load the 66.84.0.35 firmware.
4) Update to whatever firmware version you are trying to go to.
5) Add the phone to the extension and re-provision.
