I have T38G's at my office. We've discovered they work fine with a headset. The Handset is audio when your listening cuts out though. Seems that any sound going through the microphone like breathing or tapping your pen or the likes will cut out the audio from the person you are listing to. You probably miss 1 out of 10 words. Tried VAD, no change.
I guess to replicate this, get yourself put on hold so you're listening to music. Then rub the microphone with your finger and audio will completely stop coming from the ear speaker. It's like the phone can't do two things at once.
Dear,

Do you mean when using a headset, the audio is file. But when using the handset, you got bad audio during a call? If yes, will changing a good handset help to swap the problem?
How about using speaker button?
And may I know what is the firmware on this T38G?

Looking forward to hear from you
Regards
Elaine
I am using firmware 38.70.0.186. If I upgrade to the latest firmware for some reason the phones will not accept audio from a queue on 3cx so I have to use this older one. I have phones upgraded to 38.70.1.33 not in a queue and it does not fix the problem.

Yes when using the headset the audio is fine, just not on the handset. It's like the handset can't to audio in and out at the same time.

I've swapped handsets from a Meridan phone and same issue.

I know that this is really old, but... Are you using 3cx? I found that their volume settings for the handset are much to high so I had to turn it down. My users constantly complained of audio cutout on these phones. After adjusting we see good to go.
