I am trying to upgrade my phone to get rid of the 100 and 1000 spoof calls. Interestingly they still ring when the phone is off the hook.
My phone Details
SIP-T20P
Firmware Version 9.3.23.1
Hardware Version 7.0.0.1
I have tried downloading several versions of upgraded firmware but cannot get them to work.
After uploading any of the firmware roms I get a message:
Talking...!
Please update later.
Is it possible to upgrade this phone?
If so where can I get a compatible firmware version?
Cheers
I would try a small closed network to fix this.
Download the firmware to a thumb drive.
Install a router and connect a laptop and a phone only.
I know not everyone has these resources available - but it helps with figuring this out.
Also - the firmware 9.3.23.1... The second digit should be in the 70 range in my experience - so you might have a carrier specific firmware that is locked.
Who do you use for service?
Where did the phones come from?
Cheers for the response.
I bought the phones from eBay, this one was the first I purchased. I have had it a good few years though, probably 4..
I can setup a small private network and try the update again, I assume I can just configure the phone with a static ip and do the same with my laptop and connect them to the same switch.
The carrier we use is voipfone.co.uk
I checked our other 4 phones in the office this morning and you are correct their firmware reports as two digits after the 9
9.60.23.16
9.60.23.16
9.61.0.85
9.61.0.85
Which were all bought from ebay 2 at a time, approximately 12 months ago, when we started expanding.
Unfortunately the one on my desk is the one with the weirdness.
My phone Details
SIP-T20P
Firmware Version 9.3.23.1
Hardware Version 7.0.0.1
I have tried the closed network using a standalone switch, static ip for my laptop.
I did a factory reset on the phone and configured it for static ip address also.
I tried both firmware versions 9.73.0.40 and 9.61.0.85
Both end up with the same message as before Talking!
Can you try a facotry reset before upgrading?
Regards,
James
Hi James,
I did a factory Reset. and then proceeded with the update, to no avail.
It still results in the Talking ..! message
Cheers
Craig
Then, please have a try of recovery mode update.
Make sure you rename the rom file before upgrading.
Hi James,
Thanks for the update.
I have tried what you suggested but it doesnt work, I am assuming that the phone is a pre august 2009 which doesnt support recovery mode.
I have tried it on all my other phones and it works perfectly.
Just not this one.
Firmware Version 9.3.23.1
Hardware Version 7.0.0.1
Any other suggestions. If not I might consider retiring this one and getting a newer model.
Cheers
Craig
I would toss it (or sell it on ebay) and buy a new phone (t 21,22,23).
