Two brand new T38G's out of the box. Identical settings. When in screensaver mode (reduced brightness, no wallpaper turned on) one of the phones is significantly darker than the other, to the point you can't even read the screen. Here is a side by side picture of the phones "sleeping":

Here is a side by side of both phones "awake":

Any thoughts on why this is happening?
You say no wallpaper turned on ... Do you actually mean no screensaver turned on?
The wallpaper is just like a computer - it is the background behind your icons - or in this case behind your labels...
I have found that sometimes I had to set the idle brightness and timeout in the webgui. Even though the correct value was shown/ set via config file I had to resave the value.
Sorry, yes, I meant no screensaver.

I'm not sure what parameter you're referring to. On my webgui, there is no "idle brightness" value, only an "Inactive Backlight Level" with an "Enabled" and "Disabled" menu choice.

There is an "Active Backlight Level" with menu choices from 1 to 10.
I think backlight time is what I have had issues with.
But disabling inactive backlight level will not allow the dimming effect either.
Yeah, no problems with the backlight time, it goes when it's supposed to, it just leaves the screen almost black.

Also tried factory defaulting the phone. No change. Somebody at the factory probably dropped the wrong resistor value in the backlight circuit.

I've got 6 phones here identical to it, and none of them does this.

Think I'll send the phone back.
I just looked at my template file and it has a
phone_setting.inactive_backlight_level =
Values are 1 to 10
Mine is actually blank.
You got me thinking now.
Hmm...if there's no interface to this in the webgui, how would I change it?
Recommend you setup a http server to download from ... Even win7 pro has iis available.
Not sure how that works...can you give me a quick rundown of what's involved?

I have access to our own Apache servers....what am I putting where and why?
Phone section
Auto provision tAb
Provisioning server: http://IP:port/folder

There is a support section on the main site with downloads I think for the file naming conventions and file contents.

I am at home now but might be able to give more guidance tomorrow.
