I have a new T48G, a new Sennheiser SD Pro2 ML, and a new EHS36. The electronic handset lift function works perfectly, and I can hear the dial tone at the correct volume, but when I speak, the party on the other end can not hear me.

All of the connections are correct, according to the diagram in the EHS36.

As it turns out, the Sennheiser headset microphone is defective. Thank you to any who will read this. The replacement headset works perfectly.
